Until We Crash: Tuesday Teaser

Sixteen (16!) days till release…

The butterflies are dancing up a storm as we march closer to release day. I haven’t released a new title since November 2019, so I’m excited to serve you up some new words. My first beta reader finished this weekend and gave Jess and Carter five stars, which was a nice confidence boost! You have no idea how badly authors need someone to read their book and validate them. What matters to me as a writer is that I’m happy with the story, but I want you to LOVE it, too. Until a few people read it, I always wonder if it’s just me.

Welcome to #TeaserTuesday

Happy last Tuesday of May! Can you believe we’re coming into June? Twenty-twenty is halfway through. What a crazy year it’s been, huh?

Like so many others, I’ve struggled to get my act together during this COVID situation. Weeks of staring out the windows and basic blah’s kept me from all productivity but after two months of house arrest (quarantine, social distancing, safer at home… whatever you want to call it) I forced myself to get it together.

Whenever I need a reset, I find my way back to From the Wreckage. These characters and their stories never fail to spark my writing mojo. So, here I am, writing book SEVEN in the series—Until We Crash. This one is an original title and planned book. I actually have mockup cover ideas for it dating back to 2014! So, get ready for Jess and Carter’s book (See note at end of post).

As with Into the Fire and After the Fall, Until We Crash is a standalone but interconnected story. Their story also joins After the Fall as being the only two books in the series to fall into the 17+ category. Sorry, but it couldn’t be helped.

I hope you’re excited for more From the Wreckage fun! Scroll down for a little teaser AND click HERE to add Until We Crash to your TBR on Goodreads!

XOXO —Michele

I’m adding a handful of new characters to the From the Wreckage world. Two you’re going to become super familiar with are Finn and Frey Kelly. Yeah, they’re twins. You’re welcome! Here’s your first glimpse…

“I’m telling you, she wants me.”

“Sure, and I want herpes. Get over yourself.”

I’m elbows deep in grease when the twins walk into the garage the next morning, their conversation energetic.

“Who’d you offend now, Finn?” I ask, lifting my head.

Finn scoffs as though the suggestion that he’s ever offended another human is ludicrous. This is the guy who’s been thrown out of more establishments for lewd behavior than most rockstars.

“You assume I could offend the love of my life?” he asks.

Frey punches his brother’s shoulder and jumps onto the work table where I laid out the parts for our new project. “How many lives do you plan on living, brother?”

NOTE on Jess and Carter in case you need a little memory jog:
- Jess is found in Out of Ruins, All That Remains, and After the Fall
- Carter appears in From the Wreckage, Out of Ruins, West, and gets a pivotal mention (by Jess) in After the Fall.

(Jess and Carter, a From the Wreckage novel)

“Let go.” My words brush against the shell of her ear, and her breathe snags in her throat.
“I can’t.” She raises her head from the crook of my neck and meets my gaze. Shadows darken her eyes. “I don’t know how.”
I grin at the temptress sprawling across my chest. “Sure, you do. You just give in to it.” My hips roll, and she moves with me, the sensation rolling my eyes to the back of my head.
“Then crash and burn? I can’t do that.” Curling her fingers into my hair, she tugs my attention back. “No one picks me up, Carter. No one saves me.”
She said it earlier—she’s worried what’ll happen when this is over. My questions mount. This is supposed to be sex. Simple. What is she asking of me? What would I offer?
Reading my confusion, she sighs. “I can’t lose myself,” she says against my lips.
Swallowing her confession, my fingertips graze her spine. “You can with me.” My nose nudges hers. “I’m here. I’ll be here.”

Since COVID-19 hit the world I have struggled to stay on task. One day I want to write murder thrillers, and the next I want to write dirty. Monday I’m focused. Tuesday I stare at the wall for hours.
I’m currently back to working on Jess and Carter—you first met him in From the Wreckage and her in Out of Ruins—because when all else fails, the From the Wreckage characters are HOME to me. I truly hope I’m back on track because I have big plans for our friends in Texas. I’ve seen the messages, I know you want to see Jules and West again. And I know you want grown-up Jules and West ;) I want to give them to you, so stay tuned!
